Agriculture student tops the class
Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE (GOTAFE) agriculture student Jordan Ivone was recently presented with an Achievement Award for his efforts in the Certificate II in Agriculture in 2008.
Jordan, who completed Year 12 last year as well as undertaking the GOTAFE school based apprenticeship, was announced the top achieving student from amongst all levels in the Agriculture programs.
Jordan was presented with his award and a $250 voucher from sponsor WB Hunter Pty Ltd by Business Development Manager, Peter Lloyd, at the Wangaratta store. Jordan is from Myrtleford and attended Marian College.
Jordan said the course was invaluable for learning skills which he can take into any field of employment. "The OHS, communication skills and knowledge I gained will all be useful for my future," said Jordan. "Being able to obtain first aid, chemical certification and a forklift licence was also fantastic."
Whilst Jordan is not off a farm he grew up in an agricultural environment and during the course was able to build his skills in the agriculture service industry. He worked one day a week, Saturday mornings and school holidays at TAFCO Rural Supplies in Myrtleford who supplied the funding and in-store training to meet the requirements of the training.
