Staff recognised and farewell to CEO

Approximately 130 staff and guests attended the Institute's Board Christmas Function on Tuesday 16th December where the annual Excellence Awards were presented to the worthy winners.

The evening was held at the Benalla Performing Arts and Convention Centre (BPACC), with a superb meal prepared by the Institute's Hospitality Department.

The winners of this year's Service and Support Excellence Awards were:

Teacher/Trainer of the Year
Kate Gillespie - for her work in establishing the Rural Indigenous Engagement Pilot.

Innovative Training
Helen Ryan & Maria Ewart - for the development and delivery of a flexible traineeship program for the Certificate IV in Health (Nursing) for the Kerang Hospital.

Process Improvement
Narelle Lowe - for the organisation of structured work placements for TEC students.

Customer Service
Multimedia Development Team - for excelling in creating products that meet and exceed the expectations of their internal and external clients.

The evening also served as a farewell function for retiring CEO, Peter Ryan. Peter was farewelled with lots of fanfare including a "This is Your Life" presentation and testimonials from people pertinent to his career.

Throughout the dedications, Peter was consistently referred to as a "visionary and inspirational leader". Peter was congratulated in being able to turn a recently merged and inwardly focussed community TAFE to the largest tertiary education provider in North East Victoria, a thriving commercial success and a key contributor to recent regional development.

Peter was presented with several farewell gifts and a parting tribute by Board Chair, Michael Tehan.
