Local multimedia group wins shipping award

The Port of Melbourne Supply Chain Awareness Interactive Website and Seminar program has won the 2008 Lloyd's List DCN Training & Education Award at the 13th Annual Australian Shipping & Transport Awards.

Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE's Multimedia team developed the website which is a major component of the program for the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD). There were five other contenders for the award - the Australian Maritime College, APC Logistics, DHL, Direct Couriers and the Port Ash Training Centre.

"The Award recognised the project's collaborative effort and the quality of the outcomes, so congratulations to all those who contributed to the projects," said David Muir, Senior Industry Advisor, Transport & Logistics with DIIRD.

This is the second national award for the talented team who recently won the VTA Australian Freight Industry Award for Industry Promotion & Education - for the Careers in T&L Interactive CD ROM, which they also developed.

The creative production team includes Multimedia Manager, Craig Mathisen, developers Jordan Rheese, Rory Collins and Donna Collins, and designers, Kelly Bolte, Olivia Black and Simon Jackson.

"This second national award is proof we are at the forefront of design, product development and the use of new media technologies," said Mr Mathisen.

"Each year we undertake a major multimedia project which allows us to come up with the best solution for that industry's particular need and circumstance. The website was the result of many months planning and development in consultation with the client. It uses key industry stakeholders who explain the processes of the whole of supply chain."
