New cadetship in Logistics launched
The City of Greater Shepparton (COGS) in partnership with GOTAFE and TDT Victoria have just launched a new Cadetship in Logistics program for young people in the Goulburn Valley.
A Cadetship in Logistics provides the opportunity for you to get paid while you learn, gain a qualification, on-the-job experience, a career and ultimately employment. It further provides a career path into management and leadership positions within the Logistics Industry.
Isn't logistics about truck driving? No. Logistics is about the purchase, storage, movement and supply of goods. Key to logistics is the planning, implementing and controlling of efficient, effective forward and reverse flow and storage of goods, services and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet customers' requirements.
Getting into logistics provides many career opportunities in the areas of supply chain operations, transport, logistics, purchasing, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, and occupational health and safety.
Businesses are always looking at ways to move goods more efficiently in order to improve their business performance.
Within the Goulburn Valley there are skill shortages in the logistics industry. What this means is that there are many jobs and career opportunities available, particularly for young people who are innovative and like the idea of being able to improve business processes in order to be more efficient and effective.
As part of the Cadetship training will be provided both on and off-the-job. The off-the-job training will be provided by GOTAFE, where cadets will attend 4 x 2 week study blocks annually. While on-the-job training will be provided by some of the regions most well known companies.
Earn while you learn, as a cadet you will earn a minimum of $28,000 per annum while gaining a national qualification and on-the-job experience.
Cadetship applications are now being taken and will close on December 12th 2008.
