New GOTAFE CEO announced
The Chair of the Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE Board, Mr Michael Tehan is delighted to announce that Mr Paul Culpan has been appointed as the new CEO of the Institute.
Paul will be taking over the position as of the 1st of January 2009 following the retirement of incumbent CEO Peter F Ryan.
Paul has been employed at the Institute since 2004 as the Executive Officer of Innoven, a business unit of Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE, specialising in food processing, hospitality, baking, OHS and risk management, logistics and lean manufacturing. Paul is also the Manager of the National Centre for Dairy Education Australia dairy processing division.
Prior to joining the Institute Paul enjoyed a highly successful career in senior Marketing Management roles in multinational companies including Sara Lee Corporation, Glaxo SmithKline Beecham and Cerebos Foods.
Paul has a Bachelor of Commerce(University of Auckland), a Master of Education (RMIT University) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
"Following a rigorous recruitment and interview process the Board is pleased to appoint Paul Culpan to the role of CEO. Since commencing with the Institute Paul has consistently demonstrated the aptitude required to lead, develop and manage a large and complex organisation such as the Institute," states Mr Tehan.
It is anticipated that Paul's commercial experience and entrepreneurial business approach will assist to best position the Institute for the new vocational education and training reforms being introduced by the State Government in 2009.
"With the new contestable environment that Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) will be operating in, skills in business development, continuous improvement and customisation will be crucial, and this is what Paul brings to the position. The Board is very much looking forward to working with Paul and the Management Team of the Institute, to continue the achievement of our vision for the Institute," said Mr Tehan.
"I am very excited and honoured to be assuming the role of GOTAFE CEO," Paul explains. "In particular I am looking forward to working with local industry to enhance productivity and competitiveness of regional industry, and working collaboratively with local communities to improve vocational education and training opportunities, including working with secondary schools and supporting vocational pathways of individual students."
