Business students dress to impress

People make assumptions and draw conclusions about people every day and quite often it is all about the way they look.

Certificate III in Business Administration students understand the importance of looking the part when it comes to the business world and recently participated in a shopping excursion.

GOTAFE Business IT Educator, Erin Parmansche, introduced the Dress for the Office Program as part of the business course.

"In keeping with the practical part of the course and to reflect real life business, students were asked to dress for the office during class time one day a week," said Erin.

"Whilst the students were really excited about dressing for the office, they were daunted about what to wear, so the shopping trip became a fun way to socialise and get the students ready for interviews and their future careers.

"All 12 of the students attended the shopping excursion and all of them were surprised by the quality and value for money at the Opportunity Shops.

"One of the students said she managed to get five pairs of pants, two pairs of shoes, three shirts and lunch, and all for $52, the students now know that business attire does not have to be expensive.

"The students now feel more confident to go for job interviews because they look and feel more professional."

Mid-year enrolments are now being taking for business courses, for further information contact Customer Service Centre on 1300 GOTAFE (1300 468233) or visit gotafe.vic.edu.au
