The NCDE recognised the achievements of 15 graduating students as part of the WestVic Dairy South West Dairy Awards on 19 May 2016 at Deakin University Warrnambool.
The NCDE students were recognised during the evening in front of more than 250 guests that included their peers, family and friends, as well farmers and industry representatives there to celebrate their achievements.
GOTAFE NCDE Commercial Manager Northern, Neil Aird said the calibre of students graduating gives him great confidence in the future of the dairy industry.
“I would like to say well done to these particular students, they have applied themselves to every project and learning task given to them, they are dedicated to learning and it shows in their practical application of their knowledge,” said Neil.
“It gives me great confidence in the future when I see students like this, they are taking their skills, drive and expertise into the industry so I have no doubt the dairy industry is in great hands and will continue to develop and grow for many years to come.
“Billie-Jean McKenzie is one such student that will lead the way and last week she received the NCDE Student of the Year Award, a huge well done Billie-Jean.
“During her heartfelt acceptance speech, Billie-Jean talked about her pride in receiving this award.
“Billie-Jean completed her Certificate IV in Agriculture showing outstanding commitment to her studies and work on the farm. She set high standards for herself and worked extremely hard to achieve these in all areas of her studies.”
The NCDE is currently going through the planning process for the next steps in providing dairy industry approved training to farmers and service providers in the WestVic region. The plan aims to build on the successes of the past while more efficiently servicing the whole region with existing valued programmes and the introduction of exciting, new programmes from Dairy Australia.
