Stories, Culture, People and Ideas

In an attempt to encourage young Aboriginal people into the learning environment, Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE (GOTAFE) together with the North Shepparton Community Learning Centre and ASHE, have completed a Digital Storytelling Project, titled DIDGe.

The DIDGe project has given participants the opportunity to create their own short film using multimedia programs. By putting their own words and pictures together, they can tell a story about themselves, their family and/or the community. The project has provided participants with a practical and interactive learning environment to encourage cultural awareness, storytelling, writing, communication skills and innovation. 

DIDGe Stories

DIDGe stories include six short films created by each student, in the age group of 18 - 60 + years old, of an Aboriginal background:

Classes

Beginner and intermediate level classes were held for half a day a week over a 10 week period, beginning on 22 July and were held at both North Shepparton Community Learning Centre and at ASHE. All students have attained accredited modules of Certificate I in Information Technology.
