Stories, Culture, People and Ideas
In an attempt to encourage young Aboriginal people into the learning environment, Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE (GOTAFE) together with the North Shepparton Community Learning Centre and ASHE, have completed a Digital Storytelling Project, titled DIDGe.
The DIDGe project has given participants the opportunity to create their own short film using multimedia programs. By putting their own words and pictures together, they can tell a story about themselves, their family and/or the community. The project has provided participants with a practical and interactive learning environment to encourage cultural awareness, storytelling, writing, communication skills and innovation.
DIDGe Stories
DIDGe stories include six short films created by each student, in the age group of 18 - 60 + years old, of an Aboriginal background:
- Peter Amarant and Jaidine Fejo
"Away from home" - Marlene Atkinson & DIDGe Students
"Banerang Cultural Centre" - Irene Thomas
"Stepping back in time"
- Eva Ponting
"Eva's Art 2008" - Kella Robinson
"Journey across time"
- Wendy Bryce
"River stories"
