GOTAFE commenced the delivery of hairdressing and beauty qualifications and training in 2010. GOTAFE is delivering customised training to meet the specific skill needs of local salons and their apprentices as well as to those wanting to enter the beauty industry or update their skills.

Hairdressing training has traditionally involved the block release of apprentices and travel to Melbourne; however GOTAFE is providing a much more flexible and local approach. Training and assessment occurs more in the workplace including utilising the expertise of the Salon owner for training and assessment purposes. This more flexible approach acknowledges and utilises the expertise of Salon owners, and ensures that Salon owners are fully involved in and aware of the training undertaken by their apprentice.

Certificate courses in beauty are a popular choice for those wanting hands on training and work skills for the beauty industry. A training salon has been established at the Shepparton campus with industry equipment and products being utilised.

The programs in hairdressing and beauty are delivered by industry experienced trainers with a working knowledge of latest practices and products.Hairdressing and Beauty training rooms are established at the campuses with industry equipment and products being utilised. Our hairdressing and beauty programs are delivered by industry experienced trainers with a working knowledge of latest practices and products. A student salon is available at the Shepparton Campus so students can practice their skills on members of the public. Opening hours vary through the year.
