GOTAFE provides high quality, customised training in the community services field and is recognised for its innovation in this area. We can provide training solutions for students, trainees and industry professionals looking at re-entering the workforce, or for community service facilities that may be looking at training options for their current employees to address skill gaps or to update or renew skills.

The department maintains strong associations within the community services industry to ensure knowledge and skills are kept relevant, up to date and in line with current industry practice. Industry reference group meetings are held regularly to support the sector with training and education provision and solutions. The department offers nationally accredited qualifications in aged care, home and community care, disability work, community services, welfare, childrens services and drug and alcohol work.

GOTAFE's Community Services Unit is innovative and flexible in their approach to learning and training, and can customise training solutions to suit the individual and benefit the organisation or facility involved. They have worked with a variety of Community Services facilities in developing customised training programs suited to the individual workplace, with courses held at the facility, or on campus at times suitable for participants. There is a strong emphasis on Skill Sets, which provides a particular set of skills that may be found across a multitude of different courses.
