Youth Mental Health First Aid

Youth Mental Health Training can assist in early intervention and in the on-going community support of youth with mental illnesses. It is useful for people employed in areas which involve youth or increased contact with mental health issues and for carers of people with mental illnesses.
This program will provide information for members of the public to support someone in a mental health crisis situation or who is developing a mental disorder. The course informs participants on the symptoms, causes and evidence based treatments for: depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis and substance abuse use disorder. It also addresses the possible crisis situations arising from these mental health problems and the steps to help.
This course is facilitated by a MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) qualified Trainer. You will receive a Mental Health First Aid manual as part of the cost. Morning and Afternoon Tea will be provided on both days.

- Listen non-judgementally
- Give reassurance and information
- Encourage clients to get appropriate professional help
- Encourage self help strategies

If a client officially withdraws before commencement date, a full refund less an administration fee will be given. If the Institute cancels a short course the client is offered a rollover into a later course or a full refund.
