This course is specifically designed to give adult migrants the learning skills needed for effective listening, speaking, reading, writing and numeracy. This course expands upon the learning’s from the course in Preliminary Spoken and Written English and develops skills for learners who have just started learning English or had minimal exposure to English. Students will also be provided with information and support regarding settlement and social interaction.

Entry Requirements
Prospective students must be from a non-English speaking background and be permanent residents or citizens of Australia.

Pathways
Successful completion of this course may lead to Certificate II in Spoken and Written English.

Career Information
Graduates will have adequate English language skills to seek employment.

Applications can be made directly to the Multicultural Education Unit at Fryers Street campus in Shepparton.

Assessment
Participants are assessed via completion of required tasks and a demonstration of skills, eg. Written and verbal assignments, practical work, classroom participation, projects and/or written tests.

Study mode
This course can be completed on campus.

Skills Recognition
Skills Recognition is the process of gaining formal recognition for skills and knowledge that have been obtained through work history, previous study and life experience. Skills Recognition is an assessment-only process - there is no formal training involved, although you may choose to complete further training as a result of the assessment process. Skills Recognition is made up of one or more of the following processes including credit transfer and recognition of prior learning.

Fees
The standard hourly fee for this course in a Government subsidised place is $1.10.
A funded student can expect to pay no more than $550.00 in tuition fees to complete this course.
