This pre-apprenticeship course provides a wide range of work areas within the Building and Construction industry. The program will provide you with a high degree of skills and knowledge and an ability to read plans while working on a range of projects.
Prospective students must be at least 17 years of age and show a keen interest in the building and construction industry. Mature age students are also encouraged to apply.
Students who successfully complete the course may go on to complete subsequent training upon gaining an apprenticeship.
Successful completion of this course may lead to an apprenticeship in the Building and Construction industry.
For all Koorie students, GOTAFE provides the following services: transport to and from classes, meals, access to computer labs, study support and assistance with Centrelink and AbStudy. The knowledge and skills gained throughout the course will be checked against those set out by the nationally endorsed industry competency standards and the completion requirements that make up the qualification.

Skills Recognition is an assessment-only process - there is no formal training involved, although you may choose to complete further training as a result of the assessment process. Skills Recognition is made up of one or more of the following processes including credit transfer and recognition of prior learning.

The standard hourly fee for this course in a Government subsidised place is $1.62.
A funded student can expect to pay no more than $1,036.80 in tuition fees to complete this course.
