Literacy and Numeracy Support

LNSupport provides you with literacy and numeracy support while undertaking a Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification. This course will assist you in completing your vocational qualification under the Skills First Program
This course will assist with preparing students to complete a VET qualification at a Certificate IV or Diploma level depending upon their vocational aspirations and interests. Currently this training contributes to academic integrity skills required for transition to a Bachelor qualification at universities.
Not applicable as the purpose is to provide literacy and numeracy skills and knowledge to assist in the completion of a vocational qualification.

It is important that students commit to all requirements, including study and assessments the student may need to complete outside their normal training sessions.
On campus – Students are encouraged to attend all face-to-face sessions.
Trainees – Students are encouraged to attend all scheduled appointments with a GOTAFE Trainer/Assessor.

Entry requirements apply as per the primary VET qualification individuals are seeking to undertake.
This includes attendance at an information session, interview and completion of a pre-training review to determine suitability for the course. Other requirements including a current Police and Working With Children Check as well as provision of Immunisation status apply, depending on course selected.

Skills Recognition is an assessment only process that may result in credits towards a part or full qualification. There is no formal training involved, although you may choose to complete further training as a result of the assessment process.
You can apply for Skills Recognition before you enrol in the qualification you are seeking. You can apply for Skills Recognition through one or both of the following processes:
- Credit Transfer for formal training that might be equivalent to a new qualification or partial qualification
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people who have relevant and current skills and knowledge that they have gained through non-formal or informal learning i.e. work or life experience.
Please note: Eligible individuals who wish to access a government subsidised place, must participate in a Pre-training Review. This will consider your:
- Aspirations/career goals
- Educational attainment and capability
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- Suitability for Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer
This is not an accredited course – selected units chosen from the FSK Foundation Skills Training Package to support students to achieve academic outcomes.
