This course is delivered as a Traineeship. You will be enrolled into a current qualification.
The ICT40415 Certificate IV in Information Technology Networking course provides a direct pathway into employment in areas such as Network Support, Network Administration, IT Support, Help Desk and Network Technician roles.
Working in this industry will involve working with a wide range of people across an organisation, performing roles that deal with customers, working with software and hardware issues, planning and implementation and problem solving. Work hours are generally business hours, Monday to Friday but may include hours outside of this to minimise the effect on business of computer maintenance and upgrades.
After gaining this qualification you might wish to undertake further study in the ICA50411 Diploma of Information Technology.

It is important that students commit to all course requirements, including study and assessments the student may need to complete outside of their training sessions or work hours.
Students must be employed in a workplace as a Trainee and have a Training Contract.
A timetable for completion of each of the units will be developed with you. You will be expected to complete the required reading, research, exercises and assessments through self-direction. You will be supported by your teachers as required via phone, email and one-on-one face-to-face or Skype meetings. The trainer will visit the trainee in the workplace a minimum of 4 times and maintain monthly contact.
During the duration of the traineeship you wil be required to undertake:
- Relevant duties in their workplace to a competent standard
- Self-paced learning, reading and satisfactory completion of the activities of an online resource for this unit.

- Attend an interview
- Undertake a Pre-training Review to document your previous work experience and qualifications and assess your suitability for the course
- Complete a CSPA test to ensure you have the required language, literacy and numeracy levels required for the course
- Be registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (Apprentices/Trainees only)

The Trainee’s Competency Based Completion Training Plan will document start and end dates which will need to be complied with to ensure the required training and assessment is completed within the duration of the Traineeship.
Skills Recognition is an assessment only process that may result in credits towards a part or full qualification. There is no formal training involved, although you may choose to complete further training as a result of the assessment process.
You can apply for Skills Recognition before you enrol in the qualification you are seeking. You can apply for Skills Recognition through one or both of the following processes:
- Credit Transfer for formal training that might be equivalent to a new qualification or partial qualification
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people who have relevant and current skills and knowledge that they have gained through non-formal or informal learning i.e. work or life experience.
