The BSB61015 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management and BSB60915 Advanced Diploma of Management (Human Resources) are two of the recognised qualifications to become a qualified Executive Manager.

The focus will be on developing skills to provide leadership and strategic direction both for a team and the organisation as a whole.

Individuals at this level use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters. Topics covered include:

  • Providing leadership across the organisation
  • Managing human resources strategic planning
  • Leading and managing organisational change
  • Developing and implementing a business plan
  • Developing and implementing a diversity policy
  • Contribute to organisation development

You will be enrolled into a current qualification.

This dual qualification is designed for those wishing to further their knowledge and skills or seek employment in roles such as Executive Manager, Senior Manager, Area Manager, Department Manager and Regional Manager.

Attendance and Commitment

It is important that students commit to all course requirements, including study and assessments the student may need to complete outside their normal training sessions.

If attending on-campus, students will be required to attend the timetabled on-campus classes totalling 6-12 -hours per month and undertake a minimum of 12 hours per month of self-directed learning and completing the required exercises and assessments. If unable to attend the timetabled on-campus classes students will be required to contact the trainer and catch up before the next class.

You will receive an Indicative Fee Statement when you decide upon your course. A finalised invoice will be issued upon enrolment. Students will be invoiced for the components of the course that they are enrolled into for each year or semester.

GOTAFE preferred entry requirements
Before being accepted into the course applicants must:

  • Attend an interview
  • Undertake a Pre-training Review to document previous work experience and qualifications and assess suitability for the course
  • Complete a CSPA test to ensure the required language, literacy and numeracy levels required for the course

Applicants also need to have:

  • The ability to be currently employed or have access to workplace practices
  • The ability to attend timetabled on-campus classes
  • Ability to undertake training at this qualification level
  • Ability to communicate with others
  • Ability to organise study and work independently
  • Keen interest in this Industry sector
  • Some computer skills particularly in Word and use of the Internet

It would be preferred that students have completed BSB51915 Diploma of Leadership and Management or BSB50615 Diploma of Human Resources Management or other relevant qualification or have extensive vocational experience as a Manager.

Skills Recognition

Skills Recognition is an assessment only process that may result in credits towards a part or full qualification.  There is no formal training involved, although you may choose to complete further training as a result of the assessment process.

You can apply for Skills Recognition before you enrol in the qualification you are seeking.  You can apply for Skills Recognition through one or both of the following processes:

  • Credit Transfer for formal training that might be equivalent to a new qualification or partial qualification
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for people who have relevant and current skills and knowledge that they have gained through non-formal or informal learning i.e. work or life experience.
