Skills Recognition
Have experience – need qualifications?
Have you ever worked in a job or several different jobs in the one industry, but have nothing to show for it, other than a few lines on your CV?
Many people have gained valuable skills and learning through employment, voluntary work and life’s experiences that may enable them to gain a qualification. Having these skills formally recognized and obtaining a qualification is possible. The process is called Recognition of Prior Learning or RPL.
RPL is the formal recognition of a person’s current skills and knowledge, no matter, when or where the learning occurred. The skills and learning need only to be relevant to the competency or qualification you are applying for and be current.
GOTAFE offers you the opportunity to convert these skills and knowledge into a full or part qualification.
For example:
- Have you worked in the hospitality industry? You may have the necessary skills and knowledge for a Certificate II in Hospitality…
… or maybe an even higher qualification!
Employers are looking for people with the right skills and knowledge for the job they are offering. Having a qualification (or part of one) is a great way to tell an employer, what you have to offer.
The process of matching your individual skills and knowledge (often gained over many years of work) with a Nationally Recognised qualification is called Skills Recognition or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
