Benefits for Employers
“Workplaces in Australia are changing rapidly, skills shortages exist in a number of industries and the workforce is aging. Together, these factors mean that RPL needs to become a bigger part of our national training effort. Industries need to know what knowledge and skills their workforce currently possesses and individuals need better access to formalising these skills into qualifications”.
Skills First, Resource Kit for RPL Assessors” TAFE Development Centre.
Employer Benefits
RPL has the potential to provide benefits to individuals, training organizations and industry. RPL can:
- reduce unnecessary training by RTOs
- increase the pool of skilled workers with qualifications to meet industry needs
- assist in addressing skill shortages
- provide greater equity for the outcomes of training pathways
- compare more favourably in international comparisons
Because RPL has the potential to recognize skills and knowledge already acquired, positive RPL outcomes mean that credentialed skilled workers are available more rapidly than if training is required.
