Henry Stewart
Certificate II – IV in Horticulture
“I have made heaps of friends through GOTAFE . . . . It has given me confidence and the ability to do everything.”
Following the passing of his mother, Henry moved from Batemans Bay to Shepparton to be with his father. “I wanted to stay close to my dad, but I needed to find a job.”
Henry was successful in securing a traineeship with Wilmot Road Primary School, Shepparton. As part of his traineeship Henry completed Certificate II and III in Horticulture with GOTAFE. “Studying with GOTAFE let me stay in the local area close to dad and to my friends. “
“The way that you are taught at TAFE is different from secondary school. There is more one-on-one time . . . . they respect you as an adult which means you get more opportunities and more hands on experience.”
Henry intends to start his own landscaping business and has returned to study Certificate IV in Horticulture. In returning to study with GOTAFE Henry can continue with his job at the Primary School and remain involved in the school mixed netball team and the South Shepparton Community Garden Scheme.
