Women in Agriculture

Women who live or work on the land now have access to a range of workshops specifically designed to develop skills and knowledge of agriculture practices.


Training is delivered from the William Orr Campus in Shepparton and is offered as a series of 1 or 2-day workshops throughout the year.

Successful completion of all workshops may lead to the Certificate II in Agriculture. For more information contact the Agriculture Department on 1300 GOTAFE (1300 468 233).

Workshop Options

Induction OHS & ATVS

Learn how to operate All Terrain Vehicles and two-wheel motor bikes safely and effectively and the routine checks you should do to get the best performance from your bike.

ATVs & Tractors

The tractor course covers the safe operation of tractors with and without attachments and basic maintenance.

Farm Chemical Users

This course provides the required training to obtain an Agricultural Chemical Users Permit (ACUP) to legally purchase and use scheduled chemicals.

Tractors & Chainsaws

The Chainsaw one day 'hands on' workshop will give you skills in the safe use and maintenance of a chainsaw.

Communication/Environment & Fencing

Gain the necessary skills and knowledge for the construction principals involved with a range of fencing structures, types of materials, equipment,
tools and their uses.

Conventional & Electric Fencing

Learn the processes involved in planning for the construction of conventional and electric fencing.

Livestock Handling & Livestock Water

These two courses cover the basics involved with the safe handling and care for livestock.

Operate Specialised Machinery & Equipment

Understanding the safer principals involved in agricultural front end loader and a range of machinery operation including maintenance and pre-operational checks are among some of the skills you will learn from this course.
